Sir Demis Hassabis {Sir Demis Hassabis} (born July 27, 1976) is a British researcher and entrepreneur in artificial intelligence (AI).
He is the CEO and co-founder of Google DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs, UK Government Artificial Intelligence Advisor.
In 2024, Hassabis and John M. Jumper from Google DeepMind shared half of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for developing AI software for protein structure prediction – AlphaFold
AlphaFold, is based on experience and models developed by DeepMind company – the developer of Alpha Go, which defeated the world champion in the strategy game Go/Baduk!
Demis Hassabis won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the development of the Alpha Fold. The Nobel Prize Committee announced this decision on October 9.
Those who participated in my Go / Baduk lectures and strategy workshops heard that today, Alpha Go-based artificial intelligence models are used for other fields – Medicine, weather forecasting.
AlphaFold was developed for identifying and understanding three-dimensional structures of proteins, invention of new antibiotics and also for more accurate weather forecasting!!
Now you can understand why Google paid NIS 2.5 billion in 2014 to acquire Deep Mind!

In conclusion and for the benefit of everyone who contacted me for clarification:
In 2014, Google bought DeepMind, which developed deep learning software called Alpha Go, to sole strategy game of GO and beat world champion in 2016.
Demis, the CEO and researcher, is currently the CEO of the Google subsidiary DeepMind.
Google uses the deep learning engines for other science areas/ fields.
Artificial intelligence models of deep learning, developed by the researcher for Go are applied in other fields and led to his winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
An artificial intelligence software developer in the Go game field received a Nobel Prize.
The proze was given for the development and implementation of an artificial intelligence software based on deep learning, Alpha Fold, which deciphers protein folding – the spatial structure of proteins. Thus a significant problem of many years was solved and a way was paved for the development of modern drugs for various diseases.

Demis Hassabis, Co-founder and CEO of Google DeepMind visited the Nihon Kiin in late November 2024.
Mr. Hassabis has been awarded 9 dan diploma by a president of Nihon Kiin, Takemiya Yoko because his creation, AI Go, has made huge impact and contributions to the development of Go in the world.
